About PocketPDF
PocketPDF is a free toolkit for everyday PDF jobs: editing the text already in a document, signing, merging, compressing, converting, protecting and redacting. It's an independent product, run by PocketPDF itself and based in India, with 42 tools in 6 categories.
How it works
- Free
Every tool, free
All 42 tools work in the browser with no paid plan. Use any tool straight away; when you download, you sign in with Google and your documents stay in your free account (up to 1 GB) with a history of your activity.
- In-house
Processed on servers we run
Conversions use open-source software on our own servers: pdfcpu and PDFium for PDF work, LibreOffice for Office files, Chromium for web pages and Tesseract for text recognition. Files aren't passed to another company's conversion service.
- Up front
Limits shown before you upload
Up to 50 MB and 1,000 pages per file, 20 files at a time, for everyone. Each tool page says what it accepts and how long files are kept.
- Private
Your files stay yours
Only the account that owns a file can download it. Files made before signing in are deleted after 1 hour unless you sign in. There's no advertising, and Google Analytics only counts page visits; it never receives your files.
What it can't do yet
Tool pages and guides say so where it matters, so you know before you start.
- Text recognition (OCR) reads English only.
- Signatures are placed images, not certificate-based digital signatures.
- Compress PDF has three levels, not an exact target size such as 200 KB.
- Files are limited to 50 MB and 1,000 pages.
