How to turn photos into a PDF, on your phone or computer
Forms, receipts and ID copies often have to be sent as a PDF, but what you have is photos. JPG to PDF puts each photo on its own page of a single PDF. It works in the browser on a phone too, so there's nothing to install.
Step by step
- 01
Open JPG to PDF and add your photos
On a phone, tap to choose files and pick them from your photos or files. JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF and WebP are accepted, up to 20 at a time.
- 02
Put them in order
Drag the photos, or use the arrow buttons. Each becomes one page, from top to bottom.
- 03
Choose a page size
Fit makes each page the size of its photo. A4 or Letter puts every photo on a standard page, turned to landscape for wide photos, with no, small or large margins.
- 04
Convert and download
Select Convert to PDF and download the single PDF.
Taking photos that read well
- Lay the page flat, in even daylight, and avoid flash glare.
- Hold the phone straight above the page so the edges are parallel.
- Fill the frame with the page, or trim the background first with Crop image.
Quality and file size
JPG photos go into the PDF as they are, without being compressed again, unless a photo has to be turned the right way up, when it's saved again at high quality. Other formats are stored without loss. So the PDF is about as big as the photos. If it's too large for an upload, shrink the photos first with Compress image, or see how to reduce PDF file size.
Sideways photos and iPhone photos
- Phones record which way up a JPG photo was taken, and each page is turned to match. Other formats don't carry that, so turn them first with Rotate image if needed.
- HEIC isn't supported. iPhones usually hand photos to websites as JPG; if a photo is refused, set Settings › Camera › Formats to Most Compatible for future photos.
Make the words searchable
A PDF made from photos is pictures of text, so you can't search or copy the words. OCR can take the same photos and make a searchable PDF in one step, for English text. See how to make a scanned PDF searchable.
