How to merge PDF files into one
Merging puts several PDFs into one file, one after another. Merge PDF copies every page as it is, so text stays selectable and the quality doesn't change.
Step by step
- 01
Open Merge PDF and add your files
Add between 2 and 20 PDFs, each up to 50 MB.
- 02
Put them in order
Drag the files, or use the arrow buttons. They're combined from top to bottom.
- 03
Merge and download
Select Merge PDFs and download the single combined document.
Merging Word documents, images or other files
Merge PDF takes PDFs only. Convert other files first: Word to PDF for documents, JPG to PDF for photos and scans, or Any file to PDF if you're not sure. Then merge the converted PDFs.
Fixing the page order afterwards
- Move individual pages with Rearrange pages.
- Remove blank or duplicate pages with Delete pages.
- Turn sideways pages with Rotate PDF.
Password-protected PDFs
A PDF that needs a password to open can't be merged as it is. If you know the password, remove it with Unlock PDF and merge the unlocked copy.
If the merged file is too big
The merged file is roughly the size of all the files added together. If it's too large to email or upload, see how to reduce PDF file size.
Questions
- How many files can I merge at once?
- Up to 20 PDFs, each up to 50 MB and 1,000 pages. To combine more, merge them in batches and then merge the results.
- Does merging change the pages?
- No. Pages are copied without being re-rendered, so text stays selectable, images keep their quality and links keep working.
